Thank you, Walkers & Sponsors!
Sunday, May 9, 2010 West Acres Shopping Center
In its third year, the Fargo-Moorhead Breast Cancer Walk has joined forces with West Acres Shopping Center to raise awareness and funds for those affected by breast cancer, whether as a survivor or supporter. Walkers have made this Mother’s Day event a family tradition by attending in support of their loved ones and women everywhere.
The walk will begin at West Acres Shopping Center, travel south to the Schlossman YMCA and return to West Acres. A shorter route option is also available. Walkers have the option to register as an individual or part of a team, and may purchase a sign in memory/honor of a loved one or with their team name.
The walk is organized and staffed by the YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties and is unique in the fact that in addition to raising funds for breast cancer research to help find a cure, it also funds local wellness programming to support cancer survivors on their road to recovery.
Proceeds Equally Benefit:
LIVESTRONG™ at the YMCA LIVESTRONG at the YMCA is a free wellness program designed to build strength and self-confidence for cancer survivors. Adult and family programs are available at the YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties for survivors who have become de-conditioned or chronically fatigued from their disease and/or treatment. The YMCA of Cass and Clay Counties is one of the first 20 YMCAs in the country chosen to launch this collaboration with the LIVESTRONG Foundation, which allows cancer survivors to rebuild strength, develop a support system following their battle with cancer, and help prevent recurrence. The YMCA is proud to offer this program, as well as a YMCA membership for all LIVESTRONG at the YMCA participants, at no charge. Over 60% of those currently served at the local level are breast cancer survivors.
